Our Mares

"Luck Of The Irish WBF"

Luck Of The Irish WBF is the first mare that we purchased for our breeding program.  She is by Aristocrat TOF (National Grand Champion) and out of La Follie (3 time National Grand Champion, and 2 time Best in Show).  As impressive as Loti's heritage is, she has been a champion in her own right.  In 1998 she was First Place Yearling Filly, Reserve National Champion Junior Filly, AHR Futurity Reserve Champion Yearling, and GLHA Grand Champion Yearling.   In 1999 she was AHR Futurity Champion Two Year Old, and GLHA Futurity Champion Two Year Old.

Loti has been trained to both ride and drive.  She started her training at 3 ½ years old which included 30 days introduction to the saddle and 60 days dressage training.  She excelled in her training and made folks "sit up and take notice" at her first - and only - dressage schooling show where she competed against all warmbloods.  Everyone was in awe of the "pony" who made such an impressive showing.  After her first schooling show, she took time off to have her first foal - Little Irish Lass BBR.  Soon after, she sustained an injury that everyone felt would end her performance career.  But, just like everything else this amazing horse does, she proved them wrong.  She was cleared by the veterinarians in the summer of 2004 for training.  She was successfully trained to drive and was started back into light dressage training.  She loves the trails and has an exceptional work ethic.

Loti has given us 3 beautiful fillies: Little Irish Lass BBR by A Lot of Gold, Legendary Waltz BBR by Walzertakt and L'Attitude BBR by Walzertakt.  We look forward to her 2005 foal by Major's Commandant KH owned by Gerald and Darla Schlabach of Maple Grove Haflingers.  Loti has passed on to her foals beauty, talent, and excellent work ethics.  Please see the Offspring page to see her foals.

Loti has held a very special place here at Blue Bird Ridge Farm.  Her beauty, intelligence, talent, disposition and just sheer presence have placed her as the "queen" of our mare group.

"Luxury Edition SBF"

Luxury Edition SBF is by the Dutch stallion Notaris (Nevada x Vindra) and out of Limited Edition WBF (Aladdin Van de Peelkant x La Follie).  She was purchased as a three year old in 2001 from Brain and Jodi Winkler of Scotch Bottom Farm.  Notaris has been Dutch National Champion and her dam has been silver classified.

Luxy has truly become a farm favorite.  Her beauty, extraordinary sweet disposition, and her success as a brood mare have all contributed to that feeling.  She is trained to both ride and drive, but we use her primarily for riding.  She is one of those horses that you can get on and ride even if she has not been ridden for a couple of months.

She has produced 3 excellent foals, Willo-The-Wisp BBR by Willo Van het Spick,  L'Avaiator BBR by Walzertakt, and Legacy of Gold by our stallion, N'Vincible WBF.  Please see the "Offspring page to view these horses.

Luxy will not be having a foal this year since we "gave her a year off".  We plan to breed her to our stallion in April for a March foal in 2006.

Luxy is another one of those "I'm a Blue Bird Ridge Farm gal" and will be with us until we are unable to have horses any more.  We feel so fortunate to have this lovely horse as part of our small herd.

"LADY ARISTOCRAT WBF"

Lady Aristocrat WBF was purchased in the fall of 2003.  She is a full sister to Luck Of The Irish WBF and obviously has the same fabulous breeding (Aristocrat TOF x La Follie).  Although she was only shown as a weanling, she has quite a record of her own.  In 1995 she was National Champion Weanling Filly, Futurity Junior Weanling Filly, Champion Futurity Weanling, Reserve National Junior Champion Mare and Reserve National Grand Champion Mare.  She was sold at auction that fall for a record $10,500.

Just as her show record would indicate, Lady is a very lovely mare.  She has powerful movement and the "presence" of a champion.  The ability to pass her positive characteristics to her offspring is a true sign of a great mare.  Lady has done just that when she produced a lovely filly by Willo Van het Spick in May of 2004.  La Reina BBR is a great young filly and possesses the special qualities of her dam.  You can view her on the "Off Spring" page.

Plans for Lady during 2005 are to breed her back to Willo Van het Spick and to begin some formal training with her.  She will be introduced to the saddle during the summer and then progress into initial dressage training.  We expect that she will be quite stunning under saddle

We feel very fortunate to have Lady as part of our small breeding farm.  She exemplifies everything that we strive for in our breeding program: beauty, intelligence, ability and a wonderful disposition.

"Serengeti of Cedar Lane"

Serengeti of Cedar Lane was purchased as a weanling in 2000 from Cedar Lane Farm.
Her sire is A Lot of Gold (Aladdin Van de Peelkant x Dolma) and her dam is Shea (Sterling-Silver x Schikka).

Sera has been a delight to raise and train.  She is extremely intelligent and has always managed to "keep us on our toes" around the barn.  There is no other horse who can figure out how to open doors and gates or stand all four feet in the water tub quite like Sera.  We should have expected this when she "picked us out" on our visit to her as a weanling.  As we were walking about the fields, she came up to me, put her head under my arm, and literally followed me around the rest of the time.  Obviously, there was no other choice except to purchase her.

Sera had 30 days of basic saddle training at age 3 ½ years..  She then continued her training with 60 days of dressage.  She has turned out to be our "go-go girl".  She loves to move!!  She is a fearless, unflappable mount which makes her great for the trails.  She also has an extraordinary sensitivity to her cues making her a very easy ride.

Sera is expecting her first foal in March of 2005.  She is bred to our stallion N'Vincible WBF.  We feel very confident that this foal will be quite lovely and will probably be smarter than any of the humans on the place.  We are really looking forward to this baby!!
